FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straightforward answers for privacy behavior, permissions, and configuration.

Is audio uploaded?

No. Voice Anonymizer processes microphone audio locally in-browser. The extension is designed so microphone streams are not uploaded to developer servers.

What permissions are used and why?

The extension uses storage to keep settings locally in Chrome and page/site context access to process microphone streams where voice input is used.

Why does my voice still sound similar?

Try a stronger preset, increase anonymization intensity, and lower dry/wet blending with your original input to reduce recognizable traits.

How to adjust mic input volume and voice style?

Start with your microphone peak around -12 dB to -6 dB, then switch style presets and tune controls gradually while listening in preview mode.

How to reinstall or reset settings?

Remove the extension in Chrome, reinstall from the Web Store, then re-grant permissions. To reset without reinstalling, clear extension storage in Chrome extension settings.
